The Chalet

No expense has been spared refurbishing this chalet, and giving it the little touches that turn a good holiday into a great one - a Sonos sound system, sumptuous fabrics and furniture and the best quality mattresses to guarantee a good night's sleep. Space and mountain chic combine in this beautiful home, so that you and your friends or family will never feel on top of each other. There are five bedrooms: a double bedroom with en suite shower room on the ground floor and two doubles (one of which can be arranged as a twin) and two bathrooms on the first floor. There are two more bedrooms and a further bathroom on the lower ground floor - a double bunk room for four children and a double room - as well as convenient utility room with kit room including boot warmers and ski racks. The four newly-renovated bathrooms will mean you never have to wait for your turn in the morning, so that you can be the first on the pistes! The main living area, which opens on to a fabulous furnished terrace, has two seating areas, one of which has a fireplace. There is also a media room with a large flat screen TV, Wii, and DVD player on the lower ground floor, which opens on to a new furnished terrace which shares the same views as the balcony. There's a cosy reading corner on the mezzanine floor. The well-equipped kitchen has a large range cooker, and there's plenty of room for everyone around the large dining table. On sunnier days, the large terrace is the perfect place to enjoy a meal, and the fresh mountain air is sure to help you work up an appetite.

The Area

You can see the telecabine from Chalet La Fleur des Neiges but you will need to take the shuttle bus, which runs every 15 minutes between Chinaillon and Le Grand Bornand, or your car, to go skiing each day. The ski buses also serve La Clusaz. Your Aravis ski pass covers the buses and more than 200km of pristine pistes, in the resorts of Le Grand Bornand, La Clusaz and Manigod, so there's plenty of challenge for skiers and boarders of all abilities. There are also plenty of cross-country trails. Non-skiers won't be bored either, try hiking or snowshoeing, paragliding, hot air ballooning, ice skating or ice-climbing. Le Grand Bornand boasts the Famille Plus mark, ensuring that it there is always entertainment and activities for even the youngest visitors. When you get back to Chalet La Fleur des Neiges at the end of a busy day you can enter via the bootroom, which has a bootwarmer so that all your gear will always be warm and dry when you need it. Then you can just relax in the sauna and plan your next mountain adventure. In the summer, a network of walking and biking trails criss-cross the slopes, and you can pick up a route map for either at the tourist office. For keen cyclists, the chalet is pretty much on the Col de Colombiere so it's a good base for cycling. The boot room is set up for bike storage and Michael (the manager) has cycle route cards and GPS routes. There is an outside tap and hose to wash bikes and tool kits in the boot room. Le Grand Bornand has a beautiful 9 hole golf course with a great driving range, and for those very hot days head for the fantastic swimming pool complex, with a restaurant and grassy areas for picnics. If you’re looking for something a little more challenging, there’s a climbing school, via ferrata routes, a tree-top adventure park, canyoning, white-water rafting and paragliding all nearby. August sees the International Children’s Festival in Le Grand Bornand - a week of puppet shows, circus acts and workshops, with a grand firework finale. It’s always hugely popular, so make sure you book early to guarantee a holiday you’ll never forget!
